When my wife and I purchased life insurance back in 2002, we were never informed about living benefits riders.  Had we been informed, my family could have used these funds prior to her death to supplement her health care, pay bills and place our financial situation at ease.  Instead, we sold most of our assets trying to save her life.  If you have been informed about living benefits, you can no longer blame anyone else if something happens, you can only blame yourself for not taking action!
